  • Telecom industry revenues seen growing 2-4 % – S&P

MANILA, Philippines - Revenues in the Philippine telecommunications industry are seen to grow by about two to four percent per year in the coming years as smartphones become more accessible and data usage increases, according to Standard and Poor’s (S&P).
In its Emerging Asia Telecom: Low Leverage Outweighs Stiff Competition and Regulatory Risks report, S&P said the two to four percent per annum growth in revenues would be supported by the declining smartphone prices along with increasing smartphone penetration and data usage in the country ........ MANILA, Philippines - Two-time champion Mary Grace delos Santos dominated the women’s field while Ruel Suazo ruled the men’s side in the 39th National Milo Marathon Lucena leg Sunday.
Delos Santos, a member of the Air Force team, clocked 01:13:23 to match the best time in the men’s side and beat Janice Tawagin (01:38:56) and Jeanyrose Hari (01:47:39) in the centerpiece 21K event which drew 11,500 runners, including celebrities Joross Gamboa, Katya Santos, Jaycee Parker, Jamille Obispo and Zara Lopez who ran in the 5K race ................................ Frustration is growing at the slow pace of justice in the Philippines. The trials of those accused of murdering 34 journalists and two dozen others have dragged on for more than 500 days without any conclusive results.
The murders are often described as the worst single atrocity against journalists, and victims' families and media rights groups are demanding action from the Philippine government.
In the basement of the courthouse in Quezon City, part of the metro Manila region, Catholics pray for the souls of the departed. In courtrooms upstairs, doctors present grim evidence of how the victims were killed...Full Story »
