September 10-14, 2012. In cooperation with the LGU of Province of Lanao del Norte, headed by our Brod Gov. Mohammad Khalid Q. Dimaporo we were able to replicate the Project B.O.S.S. The able overseeing of Dr. Jamaica Dimaporo-Umpa assisted by Sis Gemma Harun, the hosting went smoothly without any hitch. Dr. Rizal D. Aportadera again spearheaded the delegation of Maharlika Charity Foundation and the project director Dr. Benedict P. Valdez formed the surgeons team who was joined by Dr. Bernabe Mendozaa the next day. The anesthesiologists were Dr. Aguila.
The number of cleft lip/palate & hernia patients who arrived for the free operation totaled more than seventy (70) and the successfully operated were sixty eight 68 for cleft lip/palate and two (2) hernia. The members of our local Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Association (KAPOHIL) headed by Brod Taher Banding, did a wonderful job of information dissemination. The new RN Jasmine Cabarrubias, the daughter of Sis Bebs C. Rota and equally new RN Brod. Brian Suaring volunteered to assist. The MCFI staff and the APO SOZA ALAS members were housed in the world class MCC Hotel, located in the adjacent municipality, Tubod, complete with meals and snacks brought to the operating site.
The night of the 13th a thanksgiving night was held by the Provincial LGU, and Brod. Khalid Q. Dimaporo thanked the organizing group APO SOZA ALAS & KAPOHIL and MCFI, who provided the skills needed for the successful holding of Project B.O.S.S. Sumptuous dinner followed the closing program and fellowship with singing, dancing and merry making, unfortunately the MCFI had to return to the operating table and they wound up in the wee hours. On the 14th before departure we were treated for breakfast.
