ZAMBOANGA CITY--The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has distributed Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to some 1,000 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in the Zamboanga peninsula.

DAR Secretary John Castriciones led the distribution of the CLOAs to beneficiaries during his visit to this city Friday.

“This (CLOA) is a proof that you are now the owners of the land given by the government through DAR,” Castriciones told the beneficiaries, who are tenants and farm workers.

DAR-12 Director Julita Ragandang said the beneficiaries have undergone proper identification process to ensure that “they are farm workers and tenants, as well as residents of the barangays” where the lot is located.

Maximo Mayora, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to DAR and to President Rodrigo Duterte after receiving his CLOA.

Mayora, who received a CLOA that covered 2.7 hectares of land, is a coconut farmer for the past 30 years in Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte.

Castriciones told the beneficiaries of the CLOA “to cultivate the land and make it productive” instead of selling it.
