FOURTEEN women with outstanding contributions to the community were given honors as Outstanding Women of Iloilo City (Towil) for 2016 by the City Government of Iloilo.

The women were from various fields of expertise and were chosen for bringing honor to the city, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said.

The awardees are: Dr. Joyce Wenda, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture in Western Visayas for government service, Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao District Captain Azucena Tabuyoc for volunteerism and community service, lawyer Pauline Grace Bunol-Alfuente for professional service, Rosana Alfaras for non-government organization and civic organization, Runelyn Jamolo for media, journalism and public information, RTC judge Guilljie Delfin-Lim, Engineer Helen Sotomil for science and technology, Dr. Kristin Trenas for culture and arts, Angelina Manajan for the religious sector.

Jail Officer 1 Jeralvy Yanson for protective service, Analyn Porras for the differently-abled persons, lawyer Lorna Dalipe-Gellada for education and academe, Filamie Aguillon for business and entrepreneurship, and Odette Carmina Larot Rio for sports.

Towil started in 2008 when Mabilog was then the city vice mayor and partnered with City Council Committee on Women and Children.

The annual recognition gave due honor to the women of the city who performed their task diligently above personal gain which subsequently gave honor to the city.
