Licup places all police forces in ZamPen on full alert

Police Regional Office-9 regional director Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis D. Licup has ordered that all police forces in Zamboanga Peninsula (ZamPen) to be on full alert status this Yuletide season.

Chief Supt. Licup, who presided a command conference last Monday, December 10, 2018, at PRO-9 headquarters, directed all Provincial Directors and National Support Units Regional Chief to implement their respective security measures within their area of jurisdiction, in coordination with other law enforcers of the government.

Licup explained that all officers and police personnel in every area of jurisdiction are expected to perform their utmost best, especially on security and crime prevention duties.

“We have a lot of things to do for the peace and security of each and every community in the region. We have to establish strong checkpoints in every boundaries of provinces and cities aside from random police patrol against criminal gangs and lawless groups,” Licup told Zamboanga Times in an interview.

Licup also bared that the PRO-9 as early as now has already prepared necessary security measures for the forthcoming plebiscite on January 27, 2019.

Moreover, Licup also ordered all policemen to refrain from siding with politicians, stay apolitical or non-partisan.

“Matindi kasi ang labanan sa politika sa Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur. We recorded private armed group in these two provinces. If policemen are caught siding with a politician they will face the consequences,”Licup warned.

Meanwhile, on the issue of firing of guns during the New Year’s eve, Licup said that firing of guns during the revelry is strictly prohibited.

He said that if policemen are caught firing their guns during the New Year’s eve or Christmas’ eve, they will be subjected for dismissal proceedings.

“A gun should be fire against the enemies of the state,” Licup said.

In other development, the police regional director also disclosed that he directed police commanders in their AOR to put up Police Assistance Center (PAC) in there area as many people will be going home during the Yuletide season.
