ILOILO CITY, June 8 (PNA) -- The formation of record-breaking human blood formation will highlight the national kickoff of the Blood Donors Month celebration that will be held in this city on July 5.

Coordination is now going on between the DOH and the proposed venue, which is the Central Philippine University (CPU). The organizer hopes to gather more than 4,000 participants for the blood formation.

The activity seeks to encourage blood donation, especially during lean summer months, last quarter of the year and holidays. The lean months happen when there are no classes because students, who are the biggest donors, are on a vacation.

Meanwhile, the DOH regional office is now in its thick of preparation for the Blood Donors Month in July.

“This aims to accomplish its mission of having a well-coordinated and efficient networking of blood services facilities based on voluntary blood donation that will ensure safe, adequate, timely and accessible blood supply and the rational use of blood in the region through advocacy, professional education and research,” said Dr. Marlyn W. Convocar, regional director of DOH in Western Visayas.
