The Parish Pastoral Council For Responsible Voting (PPCRV) – Palawan Chapter is all set for the forthcoming May 9, 2016 local and national elections, says Rev. Fr. Jasper M. Lahan, PPCRV Coordinator.

“We are still on the process of updating our volunteers, but definitely, handa na po kami,” he said.

He said that the role of PPCRV prior to the election focuses on voter’s education. He underscored bases of voting that they are teaching to the voters are anchored in 3 aspects such as Karakter, Kakayahan and Katapatan.

On election day Fr. Lahan said that PPCRV will have four aspects of volunteerism. First, their volunteers will act as polling precinct poll watchers. Second, they will set-up voter’s assistance desks in all schools. Third, they will serve as special witnesses of truth (this is in partnership with the Legal Network for Truthful Elections); and fourth, they have prayer warriors for secure and fair elections.

According to Fr. Lahan almost all polling precincts has PPCRV volunteer poll watchers except for the municipality of Bataraza and other small precincts in Quezon, Espanola and Rizal, due primarily to security concerns for the volunteers. However, they will still set up voter’s assistance desks in the said municipalities.

All PPCRV volunteers will have their last wave of orientation on poll watching on May 7. For any queries regarding the elections, PPCRV will be happy to know thru its hotline 09504673105, Fr. Lahan added.
