Zambo Norte approves P2.9-B budget for 2019

DIPOLOG CITY: The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) of Zamboanga del Norte passed on final reading its P2.919-billion annual budget for 2019.

Vice Gov. Senen Angeles said the 2019 budget would be used to implement the provincial government’s nine-point development agenda: infrastructure development; health, nutrition and social welfare; environment protection, rehabilitation and judicious use; good governance; agriculture, fishery and livestock development; sound fiscal management; education, peace and order, security and safety; and tourism, culture and the arts.

Board Member Venus Uy, chairman of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation, endorsed the proposed budget on the second, third and final reading based on the Committee of the Whole’s earlier approval.

Next year’s huge budget is several millions more than the 2018 budget, which was defended by heads of various provincials offices who submitted their proposals for their projects and programs. Gov. Roberto Uy endorsed the proposed 2019 budget to the Provincial Board.

Included in the 2019 budget are salaries and incentives of local government officials and employees, including job-order workers.

Zamboanga del Norte, the largest province in the Zamboanga Peninsula, is comprised of 25 municipalities and two cities, its capital Dipolog and Dapitan, with 691 barangay (villages) and three congressional districts.
