Child-friendly seal for Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The city government received the 2016 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

DSWD has chosen this city as among the 33 local governmeunits (LGUs) in Region 9 to receive the child-friendly seal.

Ma. Socorro Rojas, city social welfare and development office (CSWDO) chief, received the child-friendly certificate during the policy forum headed by DSWD regionaldirector Araceli Solamillo on Wednesday.

Rojas on Friday said the award was given to LGUs that passed the annual mandatory Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).

The DSWD first conducted the CFLGA with its 12 indicators.

The indicators included the following: increased number of children attending day-care services; reduced number of children who are victims of violence and abuse; and, absence or reduced number of child labor cases.

The other LGU-recipients of the child-friendly seal are: Buug, Imelda, Ipil and Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay province; Dapitan and Dipolog Cities, Leon Postigo, Mutia, Polanco, Rizal, and, Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte; Pagadian City, Aurora, Bayog, Dumingag, Guipos, Vicenzo Sagun, Lapuyan, Lakewood, Molave, San Pablo, San Miguel, Sominot, Ramon Magsaysay, Midsalip, Pitogo, Margosatubig, Tambulig, Mahayag, Tambulig, Tabina, and Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.
